After the World Championship in Ivanec, many national teams, participants and officials shared their words of thanks with the organizers, hosts, volunteers, judges and everyone who took part in preparing and carrying out this major sporting event.

As the World Championship for Veterans and Anglers with Disabilities in float fishing gets closer, more and more competitors are visiting Ivanec to get to know the venues, complete their training sessions, and form their first impressions of the lakes where the competition will take place. After several fishing sessions on the Ivanec lakes, Papp József, a member of Team Hungary, individual world champion and five-time team world champion, shared his impressions. Below is his original statement in Hungarian, followed by the English translation.

As the World Championship in float fishing for veterans draws closer, more and more competitors are visiting the course to get familiar with the venue, complete their first training sessions, and get a feel for the water where they will soon compete against some of the best anglers in the world. One of them is Jean Desque, a member of the French Veterans National Team, who trained here yesterday and shared his impressions after seeing the course and fishing on it.

Organized by the Sports Fishing Association of Varaždin County and hosted by ŠRD Ivanec, the county float fishing competition – the Varaždin County Championship 2026 – was held in Ivanec. The competition brought together a large number of competitors across all age categories and was held according to HŠRS rules.
